Can a Cold Cause Canker Sores?

Last week I got a canker sore on my gum. It was white in the middle with red around in. A few days after that I came down with a cold. The sore is still there but it's getting better. Now I feel another canker sore coming on under or on the side of my tongue. Is this from the cold?
