I am confused about the blood test I got today?

I just got a physical with a pap smear and blood test. It will be a few weeks before I get my blood results back. Do they check for any kinds of abnormalities in the blood or STDS for a ually active person or do they only check certain things? I have only been w/ one person but I have never been tested so I didn't know if the blood test would suffice. Thanks!
