What's a "home team?"?

Do I root for the Red Wings because I was born in Detroit? If I move to Chicago, do I then have to root for the Blackhawks? What's more of a home team -- Detroit with all their Swedes and Euro's, or Anaheim with all their North Americans? Does Seinfeld have it right -- aren't all "white-out', towel-waving home team fans just rooting for their favorite JERSEY?
