If a sporting event is rained out that was suppose to be televised....?

do they have the television rights to show it the following day...or when its schedual to be played/raced to be on tv. I'm just wondering, because the NASCAR race was rained out again and they are going to show it on tv tomorrow...and they had a baseball game schedualed for that time slot...but they are going to show the race now. They've dont this for golf as well as other races.... Is this right?
