Should I start my 7 month old on finger foods?

My 7 month old daughter used to eat Gerber stage 2 foods with no problem; she would eat anywhere from 1-2 jars 3 times a day. For the past week and a half she refuses to eat any baby food! She puckers her lips, turns her head, and spits out any baby food I manage to get into her mouth. Today at breakfast I had a banana and gave her a few pieces, she ate it with no problem, is it possible she is ready for finger foods?
